About this Guide

An estimate for any project is always going to be based on a number of assumptions. It takes experience to be able to estimate accurately, and even then there will be events throughout the lifetime of a project which will threaten your attempts to stay within budget.

This template is designed to provide assistance in this sometimes daunting task. Following on from your WBS, use this spreadsheet to list out each task and input three estimates of the man hours involved ranging from optimistic, to most likely, to pessimistic. The spreadsheet contains a formula which will output a weighted average, biased towards your most likely scenario.
