It seems that splogs (spam blogs) are still a major issue in the blogosphere, at least according to Automattic founder Matt Mullenweg.
Mullenweg told the Future of Web Apps conference (via WebProNews) that its Wordpress software has deleted more than 800,000 splogs, calling spammers "the terrorists of Web 2.0".
Gartner yesterday released its ten key predictions for business and IT in 2007 and beyond. These included forecasts that PC prices will halve by 2010, and that Vista will be the last major Windows release.
Another prediction caught the eye though - that the blogging phenomenon will peak next year and level out thereafter.
Technorati’s latest State of the Blogosphere report shows continuing growth in the number of active blogs, with over 57 million blogs currently being tracked.
However, growth in blog numbers has slowed slightly since the last quarter, something Technorati put down to more effective measures at limiting the number of spam blogs (aka 'splogs') listed. This is a good thing.
