In-game ad market to take off, says study

The market for in-game advertising on games consoles is expected to reach $80m (£40m) this year but increase to more than ten times that by 2011, according to a new report.

The study, by ABI Research, forecasts that $852m will be spent on dynamically served ads within video games by 2011, as publishers and their console partners look to reach gamers that have connected their devices to the web.

Last.fm signs content deal with Sony

Internet radio station / social network / E-consultancy's favourite web app Last.fm has concluded a content deal with Sony BMG, which the company's extensive back catalogue available to Last.fm listeners.

This deal will give Last.fm, which now has around 20m worldwide listeners, the largest music catalogue of any online radio service.

Extra supply or lack of demand foils PS3 eBay touts

Touts on eBay have been thwarted in their attempts to make a quick buck from people desperately searching for the new Playstation 3, as plenty of the games consoles are available to buy through regular channels.

Based on launches of previous gaming devices, like the PSP and Xbox, touts expected that the demand for Sony’s new machine would soon mean that shops would run out of stock and gamers would turn to eBay.

Online games retailer goes out of business

Gadget etailer Lik-Sang.com has been forced to shut down following a London High Court ruling last week that it was illegally importing Sony's PSP consoles from Asia to Europe.
