US vertical property search engine Trulia has raised $10m (£5m) in a third round of funding led by Sequoia Capital. The company has now raised $17.7m (£8.9m) to date.
P2P internet TV service Joost has received $45m (£22.6m) in funding to aid its expansion and product development.
Index Ventures led the funding round with Sequoia Capital, while other investors included Hutchison Whampoa Limited and Cheung Kong Holdings, through the Li Ka-Shing Foundation.
Congratulations to Jason Calacanis who is now entrepreneur-in-action for the mighty Sequoia Capital.
Calacanis looks all set to help Sequoia review, invest and develop new startups. He is also likely to be working on his own Next Big Thing over the coming months – watch this space.
Google is to acquire YouTube for $1.65bn in an all-stock deal, in a move that may spark a flurry of M&A activity across the internet sector.
YouTube will remain a distinct, standalone brand, with the founders and all 67 employees remaining with the company.
