49% of US population has little interest in Web 2.0

A new study from the Pew Internet and American Life Project has looked at internet and technology adoption and usage in the US, finding that nearly half of those surveyed do not use interactive features.

Pew's Typology of Information and Communication Technology Users study surveyed 4001 adults, including 2,822 internet users,  and looked at levels of adoption and attitude to Web 2.0 features such as blogging and video sharing.

36% of Americans regularly consult Wikipedia

A study from the Pew Center for the American Life Project has revealed that, despite questions over the accuracy of some of its entries, the online encyclopedia remains a popular source of information.

36% of US internet users consult Wikipedia regularly, which equates to 8% of the total US population. The survey also found that the site is most popular among the well educated, and college students.

Podcasts failing to catch on?

Although adoption of podcasts is on the up, very few web users are regular listeners, according to a new survey.

Research by the Pew Internet and American Life Project found 12% of US internet users had downloaded a podcast, a rise from 7% in February.
