Seedcamp CEO plans fund for internet startups

Tech startups across Europe are currently preparing their entries for Seedcamp 2008, the annual contest that offers five or so winners the chance to secure early stage funding and advice from a panel of expert VCs (in return for a chunk of equity).

But any not making it may not have to wait for another twelve months to get their hands on the organisation’s cash.

What will the end of BPF mean for advertisers?

Believe it or not, there once was a time when Google still had to convince large advertisers that online marketing (and more specifically search engine marketing) was a very cost-effective channel to acquire customers.  

Initially Google provided discount to advertising agencies to encourage the adoption of its Adwords platform but in 2006, since this model wasn’t really fair towards other advertisers, Google replaced it with the Best Practice Funding (BPF) Programme.

Is Zillow.com the new Boo.com?

Disruptive US-based real estate aggregator Zillow continues to confound and amaze with the news that it has raised another $30m, taking its total fundraising to a staggering $87m.

Yep, $87m. I normally turn instantly prickly when I hear the phrase ‘Bubble 2.0’, but I may have to revise my view slightly. I'd hate for Zillow to be burning cash at a rate not seen since the heady days of Boo.com.

Yet in this day and age $87m is a fortune. Internet businesses just don’t need that kind of money to put themselves on the map. Or do they?
