One benefit of using Firefox is that it has a community of third party developers designing some very useful (and free) add-ons for the browser's users.
We've taken a look at some SEO-related examples....
SEO for Firefox
This tool from SEO Book adds further information to Google and Yahoo search results by telling you how and why particular websites are ranking.
Among the information listed is Page Rank, links from .edu sites, links from Yahoo Directory, domain age, and more. A useful tool.
MetaTags
This SEO add-on provides a side bar menu showing information about the web page you have visited.
The data shown includes a web page’s meta data, links, keyword frequency and more.
SeoQuake
Like SEO Book's add-on, SeoQuake makes research easier by providing information such as Page Rank, number of links, links from social media sites etc. Users can have the SEO information they want to view displayed in a toolbar.
yExplore
This provides quick and easy access to Yahoo Site Explorer. Right click on a web page and select yExplore, and Site Explorer for that URL will be opened in a new tab.
KGen
This keyword generator allows you to see which keywords are strong on any webpage you visit, Ideal for checking out what your competitors are doing.
Like SeoQuake, this displays the Page Rank, Alexa and Compete rankings, but SearchStatus also displays keyword and no follow highlighting.
This tool automatically follows the links on a web pages, assessing the response of each URL.
This displays a flag in the browser status bar to indicate which country a website's server is based in, as well as other location and web server information.
This performs a lot of the above SEO tasks in one toolbar. Includes keyword finder, link popularity tool, Page Rank, AdWords generator and more, with more than 30 SEO tools.
X-Ray looks beneath the surface of web pages, allowing you to see the tags without viewing the sourcecode.
