Bebo is reportedly set to become the latest social network to open up its development platform to third parties.
According to Mashable, the new platform will be launched tomorrow and will apparently be compatible in some way with Facebook, allowing developers to port their applications to Bebo.
The social network, along with MySpace, LinkedIn and others, has also already announced that it has joined OpenSocial - Google's project to help developers build apps and syndicate them across different web properties.
So as Mashable points out, brands may be in two minds about whether to develop apps for a proprietary platform or wait for Google's project to get under way.
Bebo has a significant audience for app providers - although behind MySpace and Facebook, it still attracts upwards of 4m users per month in the UK.

At the moment I have over 10 application invitations on my facebook profile. Some of the stuff has been quite cool like giving people ASBO's for being annoying in the office place: http://apps.facebook.com/officeasbo. But some of the stuff has been quite annoying like there seem to be at least 3 or 4 variations of the wall application (fun wall, super wall, great wall of china etc...) and I don't want to install all 4 of them.
