The Guardian has launched a US-focused website in a bid to capitalise on the popularity of Guardian Unlimited across the Atlantic.
GuardianAmerica will be based in Washington and an eight strong team led by Michael Tomasky will produce US focused news coverage, as well as audio and video content. Relevant content from the UK site will also be included.
According to recent ABCe figures, Guardian Unlimited had around 15.9m unique users. The company estimates that 5.1m were US based, which equates to around 32%.
The site keeps the same layout as the UK version, which began a redesign process with a new homepage back in May this year. The site features audio and video content, as well as US focused blogs.
