Virgin Media is planning to launch a sports portal on Monday, offering streamed football highlights free of charge to its users.

Highlights from the Premiership, Premier League, Coca-Cola Championship and the Football League will be shown up to seven days after broadcast, as the company makes the most of its digital rights for the Premiership.

The site will also serve up a range of news and videos, as well as user generated content in the form of discussion forums for various sports.
