Apple boss Steve Jobs has laughed off fears over Microsoft’s threat to the iPod through its upcoming digital music player, Zune.
Speaking to Newsweek, Jobs said Apple wasn’t worried about the wireless networking capabilities built into Zune, which is due for release next month.
Jobs said: “It takes forever. By the time you’ve gone through all that, the girl’s got up and left.”
He also said he wasn’t worried that the iPod would suffer because of its popularity: “That’s like saying you don’t want to kiss your lover’s lips because everyone has lips. It doesn’t make any sense.”
Last month, Microsoft said it would offer around 2m songs for sale when it launches Zune, having set up a rival to iTunes called Zune Marketplace.
