Well I got in the office early this morning to read that Danny Sullivan, the guy that set up Search Engine Watch back in 1996, has decided to leave both Search Engine Watch and Search Engine Strategies.
Danny explains his reasons for leaving on his personal blog – “Daggle”.
Danny was responsible for putting search engine marketing on the web developer’s radar back in 1996 with his guide “A Webmaster’s Guide to Search Engines” and he has become one of the most respected experts within the SEM industry.
In the early days of SEM (well before Google dominated the search landscape) Danny’s website was the place to visit if you wanted to learn more about how search engines like Infoseek and AltaVista operated, and from my own personal perspective if that site hadn’t existed, I probably wouldn’t have developed the passion for Search that I have today.
I’m sure this is not the last we’ll see or hear of Danny but I wish him every success with his next venture. SEW which is owned by Incisive Media have yet to announce who will take over from Danny.
