Mix Album delays launch after Dragons Den appearance

New online music outfit MixAlbum.com , featured on the BBC’s Dragon Den last night, has postponed its launch until next week after receiving unexpectedly high traffic after the show.

Founder Ian Chamings told E-consultancy the site, which was due to go live before his TV appearance, would launch next Tuesday after an upgrade of its processing power.

We were racing to try and get the site ready in time, but it was a long shot,” he said. “We had 10,000 unique visitors in ten minutes after the show, so we decided we had to let it cool off for a bit.

Chamings convinced two Dragons Den investors to stump up £150,000 for a 40% stake in his site, through which visitors can buy tracks and mix them together using his patented Computer Aided Music Mixing System (CAMMS).

He came up with the idea while working as a DJ in Bath, and says the technology is unique.

A statement on the site says: “We’d like to apologise for the problems experienced by visitors to the beta site since the Dragons Den show – although we made every effort to have the site up and running for the 24th it was not possible.

But it won’t be long – we are in the process of installing new servers and finishing the site and the full launch will take place shortly.

1. What crap, Deborah said ''it will be a success if I'm involved'

Still not running, still not a success, Deborah says exactly the same thing to everyone she wants to back, somehow I think not, I bet she works at Mcdonalds
2. And where is MixAlbum.com now?
3. Looks like everyone's just watched it on Dave.
4. We have, and yes what crap. Well done deborah for your screaming success!!
5. Yep, I agree everyones just been watching it on Dave. Was good though and once again I think the site may be suffering from a bit of heavy traffic. It does work and I fired it up 2 mins ago.
6. Erm, I take it all back lol - seems to be working now!!!
7. go dave!!
8. Crazy, the site really does work. Who would have thought it? I was almost 100% certain it had folded.
9. Anyone see the travel shower holder a couple of weeks back. Now THAT was funny. The woman was completely serious and had spent thousands on it. If you're so tight with hotels that the ones you frequent don't have mounted shower heads then I'm sure you're tight enough to sit there with the shower in your hand.
10. this site is amazing, you can actually buy an album but download the whole full length tracks as well as the mix, a dj's dream!!!
11. Mixalbum is a good idea. It's the 'mixing' ability that's it's strength.

Maybe also sell royalties for the software????
12. Terrible idea, this is exactly what is wrong with todays house music scene. Stupid dj's with no talent and no passion for the music, lets push a button and a computer will do it all for me, *retarded laugh*.
13. I dont get this product. You can just get a dj software like virtual disco mix,the prosessing is amazing on that. Or an other free software. Record the mix and save it. It can all be for free. This website is a gimmick
14. Hey guys your missing the point. Joe Public can now down load there favourite tracks and create there own mixed compilation cd. This will never replace the DJ whose job is to read the crowd when slecting his next tune to create an atmosphere. No compilation can do this.
15. This is not an original idea. software like this is available everywhere. An example is MixMeister to name but a hundred others.
