| Description | This 56 page guide from the Office of the e-Envoy tells you all you need to know about delivering usable government web sites.
As it says in the introduction "The aim of this document is to provide Government web managers with awareness of issues that need to be addressed in incorporating users’ needs into the design process without government web managers having to be usability experts or having to interpret the ISO standard for web use." Of course, it is also very useful for suppliers to government and, indeed, as usability best practice more widely. This guide focuses most on practice rather than theory or legislation - getting the processes right, how to work with teams, what resources you can call upon, sample user satisfaction questionnaires etc. All in all an excellent and worthwhile publication. Read it even if usability is only a small part of what you do.
