Description The broadest category that a domain comes under, indicated by the part after the last dot in a domain name. The three most popular top level domains are .COM (commercial), .org (organisation) and .net (for online services and providers). Each country is also assigned a TLD (eg .uk for the United Kingdom). The TLDs .gov (government) and .mil (military) are reserved for the United States only. Negotiations are currently underway to introduce new TLDs such as .arts and .shop
