| Description | A server that acts on behalf of another. When you access pages on the World Wide Web, your requests may first be processed by a proxy server which will then determine whether you should have access to the document or not. It can then check the cache of web pages to see if the page has already been downloaded by someone else, and if SO send you the downloaded version to save bandwidth. |
