network computer |
|
| Related Terms | client, processor, server |
| Description | A low cost, stripped down computer that accesses servers to run applications and store files. The advantages of this system are that processing power can be increased by upgrading the server instead of each client computer. Also the software on the server can be upgraded as opposed to upgrading each client machine. By removing storage devices such as hard drives from the network computer and lowering the power of the processor contained inside it, network computers can be sold cheaply. |
