| Description | A device used to move a pointer on a computer screen. A mouse is held in the hand, and can be moved along a flat surface to move the pointer accordingly onscreen (eg moving the mouse to the right causes the pointer to move right). A mouse also features buttons that can be clicked to make the computer perform a task, and may also have a scrollwheel to make it easier to scroll screens of information. Most computer mice use a ball inside them to detect movement, but some newer mice have an optical laser built in, which is more accurate and doesn't require cleaning. |
