Glossary Term "Ext2"

Ext2

Related Terms HPFS, NTFS
Description The file system used by some versions of Linux. Ext2 supports partitions up to 4 TB in size, but has been criticized for it's lack of a journaling mechanism and its slowness to repair a damaged file system. Newer versions of Linux tend to use the ReiserFS, XFS, JFS or Ext3 file systems, all of which offer journaling.
