Glossary Term "access control list"

access control list

Description A SET of security permissions for an object (such as a program or digital document), specifying what is allowed to access it. It's a bit like a firewall, except that it acts to protect an individual document, and it doesn't just block external access - it can also block individual users or programs from accessing it.
