| Description | It used to be the case that you could submit your site to any search engine or directory for free. Now some of them charge for you to be considered (called "pay for consideration") or for your site to be included in their spider or bot's trawl of the Internet. For example, Yahoo! has a free submission service to its directory but is also has Yahoo! Express which is required for commercial listings and guarantees consideration of your site within 7 business days. Examples of pay for inclusion: Inktomi, Fast, AskJeeves. Companies like Positiontech provide services to do PFI for multiple search engines and directories SO you don't have to do each individually. NB: PFI of PFC (pay for consideration) DO NOT guarantee any kind of position in the search results rankings. For that you need to "pay for placement". |
