Glossary Term "front-end"

front-end

Related Terms back-end
Description Another term for "user interface". The front-end of a website is the HTML output that a user views in their web browser, while the back-end refers to the software on the web server that generates the HTML code. Some computer programs only provide front-ends - for example, you can download front-ends to manipulate a MySQL database (the back-end), or a graphical interface to a complicated video or MP3 encoder program.
