| Description | A type of network ideal for real time systems. Computers on the network are connected in a ring, and a token is sent around the ring. When a computer gets the token (and wants to send data), the computer first takes the token off the ring and replaces it with its own data. The data is sent around the ring, and when the computer gets its own data back it removes the data from the ring and places the token back on the network for other computers to use. |
