Job Description

UNIQLO is the largest apparel retailer in Japan. Since it's conception in 1984 in Hiroshima, Japan, the company has grown to over 760 stores worldwide in Japan, UK, USA, France, Korea and China. In 2001 UNIQLO first entered the UK market and in 2007 UNIQLO opened it's first European Flagship store on Oxford Street, London. There are now 13 stores in the UK, 12 of which are within the South East area.

The UNIQLO eCommerce website launched in June 2007 and has since grown from strength to strength. We're looking to recruit an eCommerce Manager to be a part of this exciting venture for UNIQLO.

Job Description:

  • The overall day-to-day operation and running of the UNIQLO eCommerce website.
  • Working with external web agency to implement the development of the eCommerce platform, making recommendations and agreeing budget with senior management.
  • Working with Head of Marketing to develop the annual online marketing strategy inline with the off-line marketing and advertising campaigns.
  • Implementing the customer relationship strategy, developing new initiatives to retain existing customers and recruit new customers.
  • Developing third party promotional contra-deals with suitable brands to introduce the UNIQLO website to a new audience.
  • Liaising with UNIQLO merchandising and allocation (both in Japan and the UK) to establish suitable product selection, ensuring product and images are both available for upload and are in line with overall business product campaign planning.
  • Daily / weekly sales reporting and monitoring. Monitoring customer spending patterns and tracking worst / best sellers online and utilising marketing and retail skills to investigate and maximise opportunities.
  • Working with external agencies (affiliate, PPC, online marketing and media buying) to develop strategy and ensure UNIQLO website has best visibility and share of voice online.
  • Managing relationship with warehouse and logistics partner to ensure smooth operation and maximum potential in the fulfilment lifecycle.
  • Responsible for profitability of the UNIQLO eCommerce website including budget management and P+L accountability.
  • Managing and developing an eCommerce assistant.


Day to day tasks:

  • Creating content for weekly email campaigns and developing in HTML, planning and delivering the weekly email broadcast.
  • Managing the eCommerce assistant, ensuring they are monitoring content to ensure all product descriptions, prices and photography are correct and ‘ready for web’.
  • Customer service – monitoring possible fraudulent activity online and minimising. Answering customer emails and resolving issues.
  • Ensuring merchandising, logistics and warehouse are in liaison to ensure product is available online.
  • Monitoring and using analytics package to spot trends and react to opportunities.
  • Liaising with UNIQLO Japan to obtain assets for website – ensuring all images are processed and uploaded to website in line with product availability.
  • Ensuring website is working correctly at all times and liaising with external web agency when issues arise.
  • Day to day liaising with all third party agencies to ensure optimum operational efficiency and customer acquisition.
Candidate Requirements
     
  • The right candidate will be ideally:
    • Qualified to a graduate level
    • An in-house eCommerce coordinator looking to step up to a new challenge
    • Have at least two years experience in a similar role within an online retail environment
  • Excellent understanding of websites and their functionality; eCommerce, CMS, email campaigns, SEO, PPC, affiliate and other online marketing
  • High degree of computer literacy in all Microsoft packages – particularly Excel for analytics, Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
  • Ability to build emails using basic HTML and CSS coding.
  • A mix of creative and technical thinking with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be highly organised, self motivated, competent and use their own initiative.
  • The ability to review and make recommendations based on experience or knowledge
  • Be able to set up new processes as the business expands to accommodate new opportunities and systems.
  • Knowledge of retail merchandising systems, overall retail structure and customer behaviour.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
