Our External Affairs team plays a critical role in our success, enabling us to convey our values, objectives and achievements to the widest possible audience.

The shell.com internet presence comprises nearly 150 sites and covers all businesses, functions and countries. The total toolset cost is approx. $1.5 million.

In this key global position, you will play a significant role in shaping Shell’s Internet presence and ensuring that it continues to be recognised as best practice. In particular, you will work closely with web, marketing and communications representatives in the businesses and with the SITI Internet, Intranet and Portal IT Manager to ensure an integrated approach to the management of web sites and the development of the associated toolset.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to be part of the major changes that are taking place in the corporate centre, including the establishing of the new Corporate Affairs organisation.



Responsibilities:
You will support the operation and development of Shell’s internet presence, focusing on content management and the site’s usability and accessibility.

In particular, you will manage business requirements for the development of the content management toolset, act as a contact for the associated suppliers, and ensure IT support staff are fully conversant with the features of the toolset.

We’ll expect you to contribute to the content management strategy and implementation and to the development of Shell’s online standards, helping to promote the correct application of the requirements.

Your role also involves promoting and ensuring the effective use of global content packages, advising website and content owners on all aspects of web management, especially management practices and site usability and accessibility matters, and assisting with communication, training and coaching activities for the Shell web community.

In addition, you will need to contribute to activities in support of achieving top quartile performance for Shell’s internet presence and to support effective working relationships with website owners and internal and external suppliers
Candidate Requirements
Educated to degree level, you will have experience in website management from a business perspective as well as a good appreciation of the technologies involved.

We’ll be looking for a hands-on understanding of the capabilities of the web channel and its role in business, for example, enhancing our reputation through effective communication, marketing and sales.

You’ll also need a good knowledge of the marketing and communications disciplines, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work across borders and at a range of levels in the organisation.

A sound knowledge of web-related IT is essential
