| Background: | Philip Smith is the editor of Revolution, the UK's dedicated digital business and marketing monthly.
Joining Revolution, which is published by Haymarket, in 1999 as news editor, Smith initially oversaw the development of the magazine's news team and its online content (www.revolutionmagazine.com) which was integrated into the magazine. Prior to joining Revolution, he worked on the newsdesk of Estates Gazette interactive, Reed Elsevier's award-winning subscription-based business to business real estate web site (www.egi.co.uk) and has also been a regular contributor for a range of titles and publishers including The Irish Times and Emap. Smith has a post-graduate diploma in journalism from the acclaimed media school at the University of Wales, College of Cardiff. His first book, Directing Traffic, which examines the development and design of online businesses and the form and function of their marketing strategies, was published by RotoVision in December 2002. |

| Current: | Philip Smith was appointed editor of Revolution in April 2001 and aside from editing the magazine, runs the annual Revolution Awards, which reward the best examples of digital marketing and business from more than 400 entries.
In March 2004, the awards, which he co-hosted with Stephen Fry, were attended by some 1200 members of the digital industry. Smith has judged web sites and new media marketing strategies and campaigns for the COI, the PPA, the AOP, Yell.com, Music Week's Online Music Awards and PRWeek's annual industry awards ceremony. |
