| Background: | I realised ten years ago that if e commerce would become reality then there would have to be law to protect users and webite operators. I was one of the first lawyers in the UK to develop an expertise in the legal issues and helped pioneer awareness of the huge legal issues which relate to online business. I have written three books on internet law published in the UK, USA and China. Winning the national 'Lawyer' Awards in 1999 for Best Use of Multimedia in the law led to my giving evidence to UK government Cabinet Office on secondary legislation for digital signatures. I speak nationally on the law of e commerce. My faith in the internet for business meant I stuck with what was a new area of law in at times a difficult economic climate. | |

| Current: | I founded Lecote Solicitors ( the name drawn from the words Legal, Communication Technology ) which is a niche commercial law firm concentrating on internet and new media law. We act for clients in the sector across the UK and I remain as enthusiastic about the potential for the internet as I was 10 years ago. My third book on the subject was published this year and the Legal 500, the national independent client guide to lawyers acknowledges Lecote as a recognised leader in internet law. I intend to continue pioneering the law in this area, keep atune to latest technology, and develop still further our international links. |
