| Background: | Charlie has a proven track record as founder and manager of successful technology start-ups.
In 1996 Charlie founded and ran Orchestream, the market leader in IP Service Activation software for MPLS-VPNs whose customers included AT&T, Vodafone and Energis. In June 2000, when Charlie was just 24, Orchestream listed on both the London Stock Exchange and NASDAQ and was valued at over £1bn. The company was acquired in 2003 by another NASDAQ listed OSS software company, Metasolv. In May 2000, he founded iGabriel NV, an angel investment network of 30 business leaders providing start-up companies with capital and access to a network of industry leaders and entrepreneurs. iGabriel.net made 7 investments of which 5 are operating and 1 is now profitable. iGabriel has now merged its operations with Pi-Capital, which now boasts over 200 angel members. In 2001 Charlie founded Nexagent with Chris Gare formerly of C&W and David Page from Cisco Systems. Nexagent has developed a patent pending Multi-carrier Interconnect and Proactive Service Lifecycle Management System enables Telecom Carriers and Integrators to provide large enterprises the optimal multicarrier IP-VPN solutions by selecting and interconnecting the optimal carrier in each country. Charlie is an active member of the IEEE and several IETF working groups, is on the advisory Board of Newport Networks plc and has been selected twice as a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer, with Orchestream in 2000 and again in September 2004. He has been featured in numerous publications such as Red Herring, the Financial Times, was referred to as a "Born Entrepreneur" in the Wall Street Journal. In March 2004 was named European Technology Forum’s ‘Technology Entrepreneur of the Year’. |
