| Background: | Lizzie joined BBC Radio in 1982 becoming a senior studio manager in charge of Radio 4 technically for long periods, and working on live and recorded programmes, including complex dramas. She started Soundbite Productions Limited in 1992 producing series for BBC Radio 2 and 3 eighty per cent of which were critics 'Choice of the Day'. She re-trained in Multimedia at Birkbeck and was named 'Multimedia Student of the Year' by the DTI in 1997, this was followed by an EU Funded course for six Television and Radio Producers from across Europe on producing Multimedia run by the BBC, The University of The West of England, Swedish Television and the Institute of Sound and Light in Paris.
In 1997 the BBC invited Lizzie to work in the team launching bbc.co.uk, where she co-created 'WebGuide' the BBC's guide to Internet websites, she then built up the BBC’s message boards, live chats and chatrooms from scratch becoming Editor of their online Community, it's now one of the largest online communities in Europe. In 1998 she worked with a small team to launch bbc.co.uk/asianlife which was nominated twice in the Guardian's 'Race in the Media Awards.' In 2002/3 Lizzie managed the BBC 's Interactive Presenter Scheme, with BBC Talent. She was a founder member of Emint the UK Community Manager's Association which now has 500 members; Emint promotes Online Community Management, sets moderation standards and assists with research into online communities. |

| Current: | Lizzie currently oversees ' ChatGuide ', the BBC’s cross-media initiative on online safety, liaising with the children’s charities, the Home Office and the police. ChatGuide was nominated two years running at the Internet Service Provider’s Association awards. She is also undertaking a part-time PhD at the University of Westminster on the role of the BBC and on the mediation of interactive content (the presenting of interactive broadcast content and the hosting of online social content).
Finally Lizzie is a mentor on a NESTA project creating production methods for re-mixable films. |
