| Background: | Began as a copywriter and video producer in Australia.
Came to the UK, continued copywriting, but then researched search engine optimisation, developed new optimisation techniques, and published a number of books and articles on the subject of... search engine optimisation. Realised its potential as link popularity became a major factor and the introduction of weblog technology caused a major rise in personal publishing (these sites collectively have a pronounced influence on many search databases). Continued using SEO knowledge for the benefit of commercial clients, but also... Used this knowledge to campaign successfully for a publicly accessible email facility for Tony Blair, then produced the first weblog by a politician (Tom Watson - a Labour MP), teaching him how to use the same methods and connections to reach constituents and a wider audience. Tom's weblog won the Elected Representative award at the 2004 New Statesman New Media Awards. |

| Current: | I've just produced the first weblog by a Conservative MP (Boris Johnson).
To see what I'm up to tomorrow, check my weblog @ bloggerheads.com. (I'm starting with a nice, long rest.) I'm looking forward to getting more commercial clients onto communication/optimisation via weblogs, but - damn it - most folks in ecommerce just don't seem to be ready for it yet. Still, the model has been made and the principles proven (with people as a brand). Twice now. |
