| Background: | Since 1996 with start up capital of £8,000 I have been riding and managing the rollercoaster of boom and bust within the most dynamic and frantic paced industry sector ever unleashed upon the human race. I have had the privilege of being part of a decade that has re-written the way humans communicate, solve problems, gather information, research, find a lover, purchase, educate and entertain themselves. It hasn’t always been easy, I was a particularly unfashionable operator during the boom years, I wasn’t seeking an IPO or striving to grow my headcount by fifty people a month. My time at Fernhart has been about delivering excellent work, on time and on budget. To some, a dull strategy but one that has proven we are here for the long term. The last eight years have been a totally fantastic experience and I am looking forward to the next decade with double the amount of enthusiasm as well as grey hairs.
There has been so much activity crammed into the last eight years that I can only try and give a flavour in a few sentences. Fernhart has been involved in a myriad of innovations including taking traditional auction houses (the world's second oldest profession) online and enabling their clients to bid online. We have enabled consumers to order their favourite pizza via the television set and the internet, insure their pets online, interact with radio stations online and get closer to the world of Formula One racing. We have also enabled Royal Institutions to communicate with their membership and enabled the Government to communicate and interact with the electorate via their TV sets. I like to think Fernhart has played its part in furthering the careers of our clients too (we work and deliver for people as well as brands and corporations). I am very proud to say that nobody has ever been fired for hiring Fernhart in the first Internet Decade. Anyone that appointed a supplier to deliver a web (or TV) solution in the last decade is a pioneer too and they should be recognised. Without bold, entrepreneurial clients this first internet decade may have amounted to very little indeed. While I have the chance a few thankyous to some very special people who have been huge supporters and true industry friends. John Ousby - Ex Virgin Radio now @ BBC, Peter Pedersen - Ex Channel 4 (he should have been here at the reception) Ian McCulloch ITV plc Jacki Vause – Flapjack PR now @ Peppercom Communications Sheila Creak - Sky Italia Dr Cees Zwaard – CEO Zoo Technology Peter Bell - Microsoft Phil Broadbery and Brian Mann my talented partners @ Fernhart |

| Current: | I shall be on the 21.25 train from St Pancreas to Sheffield immediately after the reception. Fernhart will expand considerably over the next ten years. For me the next ten years is about finding and developing tomorrow's talent. At 36 I'm an old man in this business I want to be surrounded by people from age 18 to 30 to innovate whilst us oldies continue to manage growth.
Yorkshire is a hot bed of talent and has fantastic funding initiatives for "inward investors". Fernhart will continue to focus on multi platform systems and interfaces that offer total reliability and excellent return on investment for clients. Fernhart also intends to position itself as a major European Outsource partner for broadcasters and corporations who have an interactive offering. |
