Founded business, raised capital for first round valuation of over £30M, planned and organised growth, hired team of 35, briefed and approved marketing (including radio, TV and online advertising). Built service to 1.5 Million registered users. Supervised very large, business-critical IT spend, appointed and reported to high-powered board of directors, managed firm through dot.com boom and crash, sharp downsizing and return to profitability. Sold profitable business in early 2004. October 1994 – October 1998 Webmedia, London CEO. Founded business – Britains' first serious, commercial web site design agency. Raised equity via partial sale to Maurice Saatchi's new media investment fund, managed technology, creative and account management across dozens of top accounts - from Lloyds Bank to The Consumers Association to Body Shop. Worked with clients to develop strategic responses to new media problems. Spun off several new businesses, built group to over 60 staff and three offices. August 1993 - August 1994 3W, London Editor. 3W Magazine (founded by Ivan Pope) was the first print magazine in the world about the WWW. It reached subscribers in dozens of countries and bridged the most fascinating period in the web's history - when issue 1 was published (1993) there were no more than a few dozen web sites in the world. By the time of the final issue (mid 1994) there were already hundreds of thousands (there are now, of course, rather more than that). |
