The Daily Telegraph said that ‘Catriona is evangelical on the subject of usability.’ (Usability is the science linked to Psychology which analyses human behaviour in relation to digital interfaces.) Catriona is chairman and founder of The Usability Company, Europe’s largest agency providing business focused usability consultancy. The Usability Company currently works for 35 of the FTSE 100. Catriona has a background in Psychology and Human Computer Interaction, she has worked at BP, General Electric and Barclays Plc. * Catriona is a founding board member of the Usability Professionals Association, UK. * Vice Chairman of the British Computer Society Human Computer Interaction Group * Founding member of the European Usability Forum. * She was one of a panel of experts from voluntary, industry, government sectors and academia that recently advised the UK Government on the “Web Quality Framework” document – usability for government. * She is on a variety of judging panels for new media awards e.g. the New Media Age effectiveness awards, 2003, 2004 * She is a member of the UAWG (Usability and Accessibility Working Group, BWDMA) * She has just assisted the BBC produce their Usability Guidelines for children * She is on the Editorial Board of Interacting With Computers along with Jakob Neilsen, the noted US usability guru. * She lectures on the subject of new media usability at a number of conferences and educational institutions * She is regularly contacted by the BBC and the Financial Times and Sunday Times amongst many for independent comment on a broad range of usability issues * She is a Prince of Wales Trust mentor assisting young people set up businesses, and she mentors HCI students still in education * She is currently writing a “Dummies” book relating to Usability & Accessibility. |
