Wikipedia has passed another milestone after the two millionth article was added to the site on September 9.
The article - on the subject of 'El Hormiguero', a Spanish TV show - was the two millionth English language entry in the online enclyclopedia. Wikipedia has 8m articles altogether in 250 different languages.
The Wikimedia Foundation, the non profit organisation that operates Wikipedia's sites, says its English language site now has around 3.4m contributors.
It is the sixth most visited web property after Google, Microsoft, Yahoo!, Time Warner and eBay.
Recent surveys suggest that the site is the web's top destination for news and information, and that 36% of US internet users use the site on a regular basis.
