Head of Online

The Mind Gym is looking for someone with the passion and drive to transform our online offer into a resounding commercial success.

The good news is that The Mind Gym Online already exists and has 40,000 registered users. Even better, The Mind Gym has

• A wide range of warm, active corporate clients including 20% of FTSE 100. Several of these are already excited and keen to preview the latest online offer.
• A sales team who have strong relationships with these clients
• A brand that is well known in the physical world (with 100,000 past participants, two international best sellers and a new book due out in January 08)
• Marketing alliances with Virgin Atlantic and, potentially, at least one well known ISP
• A strong balance sheet with a track record of exceptional, profitable growth and no outside investors
• A system that has been built and is designed, ready for further development
• An existing in-house team of content providers, designers, programmers and marketers.

The challenge is to take responsibility for The Mind Gym Online and build it into a global, profitable magnet for all who want to use their minds more effectively.

There are three priorities.

1. Building B2B revenue. This is likely to include

- working side by side with the relationship team and pitching to clients
- listening to clients’ needs and finding creative ways to meet them, usually with the existing technology.
- providing clients with after-sales support and insight so that they are delighted and buy more/refer us elsewhere.
- guiding the marketing team so that the online offer appears irresistible.

2. Building site stickiness. This is likely to include

- analysing user behaviour.
- developing and implementing a strategy for enhancing the experience so members have plenty of reasons to come back again and again.
- scoping and project managing the development of new applications.
- ensuring that the day-to-day user online experience is always a delight.

3. Building B2C revenue. This may well include setting up efficient web optimization, nifty online partnerships and clever viral marketing.

 

 

 

 

Candidate Requirements

 

 

 

The ideal candidate will have

  • A minimum of 5 years commercial experience, at least 3 of which working in an online environment
  • Experience in Project Management and implementation skills
  • Experience of working with all divisions in an e-business, especially strategy, sales and technology
  • A track record of delighting business clients and growing B2B online revenue
  • The knowledge and history with subscription sites and/or growing B2C online revenue
  • A passion for self-help/personal development/popular psychology
  • The ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload
  • The ability to present and negotiate at senior levels both internally and to clients
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and leadership skills
  • Strong negotiation skills with the passion and resilience of an entrepreneur
  • The ability to communicate The Mind Gym brand in the right way
  • Good commercial awareness, especially of the online industry
