Job Description

Great Little Trading Company (GLTC) is an established direct multi-channel retailer of “Practical Products for Parents and Children”. Mailing 3m catalogues a year and generating well over £10m sales, GLTC has built its 11 year success on its ability to make parenting easier and less stressful. In 2006, GLTC was voted a “Kids’ Superbrand” by the independent Superbrand Council.

With the internet accounting for more than 50% of sales in our rapidly expanding business, we are now seeking a Web Manager to help us achieve the objective of dominating our online sector.  

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious and innovative individual to join a successful and growing business.  Reporting to the Head of Marketing, your key responsibilities will include contributing to and implementing our online marketing strategy and tactics including email, advertising, search engine (pay per click and organic), and managing the relationships with our affiliates and on-line partners as well as managing the day to day content and up-keep of our site. It is also a great time to join us as we have just started the process of completely re-building our website and you will have the opportunity to play a significant role in building the sector’s leading web site.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the £0.5m online marketing budget, including continuous improvement of ROI
  • Develop, with the head of marketing, a sector leading website.
  • Manage the day to day running of gltc.co.uk. including content images, copy internal and inbound links
  • Identify and implement improvements across the website’s design/navigation to drive conversion and retention of site visitors
  • Develop our email communication strategy and campaigns to increase the conversion rate, frequency and value of customer spend
  • Manage the design and broadcast of our email campaigns
  • Manage our pay per click partner to increase sales in a controlled manor
  • Maximize organic traffic and conversion from search engines
  • Manage existing and establish new online strategic partnerships (e.g. Junior Magazine)
  • Formulate and implement the affiliate strategy, including account management of affiliates
  • Optimise online advertising against ROI (including paid listing placements)
  • Manage online promotions involving third parties, such as competitions, offers and recruitment drives
  • Work with the creative and marketing teams to ensure that all online marketing activities are in keeping with GLTC’s brand values and guidelines
  • Report traffic and sales for all online marketing, including ROI, using a variety of reporting tools

 

Candidate Requirements
  • Highly numerate graduate with minimum 4 years online marketing experience, preferably in a mail order environment
  • Direct experience of managing budgets, paid and organic search engine marketing, relationships with media partners, email marketing campaigns and affiliate programmes
  • Strong commercial awareness with particularly good deal negotiation and influencing skills
  • A proven track record of delivering a significant increase in traffic , conversion and AOV
  • Ability to think clearly and articulate calmly when faced with issues or problems
  • Ability to cope well with the demands of a rapidly growing company
  • Proven ability to work as a self-starter and to meet stringent deadlines
  • Pro-active and able to show initiative/ideas to constantly improve GLTC
  • Excellent work and customer care ethos
  • Strong references
  • Keen desire to buff the CEO’s shoes
