Job Description

Signet Group plc is the world’s largest speciality retail jeweller and operates in the US and UK. In the UK, we have over 600 stores under the H. Samuel, Ernest Jones and Leslie Davis brands. Following the successful launch of the H. Samuel online store in 2005, we are growing our eCommerce team. This is a great opportunity to join a major UK high street retailer in the early phase of eCommerce – you will help to shape our multi-channel strategy and make a real difference.

JOB PURPOSE:

* Establish conceptual and stylistic direction of website
* Create visual solutions that will develop brand identity of H.Samuel and Ernest Jones on homepage, category landing pages and email newsletter
* Maintain design integrity on all projects undertaken, deliver on time and within budget
* Be an active participant in all discussions related to the design of the website
* Manage a team of junior designers and photographer

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

* Set design direction based on brand and customer needs, develop style guide. Act as internal design representative on projects with external online agency
* Manage development and maintenance of all design for HSamuel.co.uk and ErnestJones.co.uk websites, email and other digital communications
* Deliver high quality design concepts/solutions for new website projects big and small, e.g. website re-launches, supplier brand pages
* Deliver day-to-day creative/design work for H.Samuel and Ernest Jones website change-outs and emails
* Ensure design processes and design projects (such as online store home/landing page change-outs, new site function, product images) run as effectively as possible
* Schedule and manage workload of design and photography team
* Manage growth and development of design and photography team. Inspire team to constantly improve the work we are doing and create brilliant, customer-focused design and photography
* Manage freelance designers, artworkers or agencies where necessary
* Share learnings and efficiencies across brands
* Partner with Marketing brand team to ensure brand goals are translated into online environment
* Present concepts to internal clients (e.g. B&M, Marketing, senior management)

Candidate Requirements

* BA or BSc in design or related field
* Experience in managing a team
* 5 years professional design experience
* 3 years min. design experience in an online environment
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams
* Flexibility to work in rapidly changing environment (online team) within a larger corporation
* Ability to take initiative
* Ability to multitask and ensure flawless execution
* Excellent people management and project management skills
* Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator; Flash experience a bonus
* Project and team management experience
* Excellent communication skills
* Excellent knowledge of graphics and screen layout constraints for the web
* Genuine ability and appreciation for design
* Passionate about the Internet, ideally online retail
