Great reply James. I think it is worth remembering that 'architect' is also a common noun/verb used long before being adopted by modern professional 'architects'.

From the Oxford Compact English Dictionary (online):

• noun1 a person who designs buildings and supervises their construction. 2 a person responsible for the invention or realization of something.

• verbComputing design and make (a program or system).

— ORIGIN Greek arkhitekton ‘chief builder’.

And 'chief builder' isn't a bad analogy either. Any classically trained Greek speakers here? It looks to my untrained eye that 'arkhitek' here means 'builder' - again not a bad analogy.

Personally, I like really it.

It seems highly approprate way of differentiating the specialist roles required to design and build a modern website and helps non-specialists understand the role of architects, designers, coders and programmers in the whole process.
