Hi Catherine,

Are you suggesting that a business analyst with a library science background is a fake? Or a developer who has studied cognitive science? Using your criteria, I certainly can see how 95% of the information architects you meet are "fakes" -- including myself it would seem.

As the author of one of the first books on information architecture, current president of the Information Architecture Institute, Associate Professor of Usability and Design at IE Business School, and CEO of a fast-growing UX company, I confess to looking forward to meeting some real IAs someday :)

Alternatively, perhaps your definition should be broadened a bit...
