The easiest way to start is to sign up with an advertising network. Google AdSense is the best known and is simple to install.

You will need a lot of page views to make much money, but that's how the advertising game goes.

The nest step is to sign up with a couple of leading affiliate networks (check out e-consultancy's directory and buyers guides).

Finally, you can try setting up some affiliate links directly. For example, Amazon do a range of Buy Now buttons allowing you to earn commission by featuring links to books about the subjects on your website.

You can, of course, also go after advertisers directly - whichever businesses are related to your content - that's probably best primarily when you have a highly focused website.
