Big Name SEO Agency or In House Team

Thanks for your thoughts Denis and you're right, I guess it comes down to personal opinion and the skills available in house.

After some thought I think we're best building an inhouse team and line up some agency expertise in a consultancy capacity whilst we get started.

On one hand someone could claim that having all those people in-house would be equivalent to having your own internet SEO team, given that they are all competent and know what they are doing.

One the other hand someone could also claim that doing it via an agency could be more beneficial due to the investment the agency puts in terms of skills updating, and greater focus in SEO.

It all comes down to what you feel is best for your business.  There is no black-and-white  yes/no clear anwer.  Both can work well for different businesses.

So I hand over £10K+ a month budget to a big name agency (OK so I know that's not going to get me that far but its a start). Exactly what are they going to do with the time we pay for?

Have they got anything up their sleeves that I couldn't do with a decent PR person, web developer & full time link builder, and a decent sponsorship/link bribe budget?

I know its a broad question, but if anyone can shed some light it would be much appreciated.
