Affiliate marketing in social networks and vertical search

 
I can see some merit in your argument - I'm just not convinced yet that people will use vertical search engines in preference to Google.

Whether we like it or not Google has become the de facto standard search engine, indeed many people (particularly younger people) now say they are going to Google something rather than they are going to search for something - so any vertical search is going to have its work cut out to achieve any sort of market penetration imho.

I do believe though that you have hit the nail on the head with regard to vertical social networking - this does strike me as a whole area which at the moment is extremely under exploited.

I'd like to extend this discussion a little by also asking for opinions on how affiliate marketing (and indeed other online marketing) can better penetrate the social networking / vertical search arena.
