Hi Dixon

Well, if you are right I will be mightily impressed and eternally grateful.  I have just changed it - let's if it works. 

However my thinking is that the tag <body  > is in fact correct syntax ... but maybe the crawler does not think so and is having a problem interpreting this for some reason.

BTW. The text you pasted in below, is the tag syntax missing?  What am I looking for?

Looking at your home page through a text only viewer may provide a clue. the one I used gave the following back, which suggests that somehow there is something wrong with the way the asp is rendering. If I was msnbot and read what I've cut and pasted below, I probably wouldn't index the page either. Have a look and see if there's a reason why I got this in my text viewer.
