Mike, your document focused heavily on FMCG/Low margin-high volume business, with a couple of exceptions in the form of John Lewis which is 'middle of the road' in terms of branding, price point etc, but by no means "high end"

What would your thoughts and comments be to the luxury market and with respect to site design and Design patterns. By Luxury im referring to the 'Prada's, YSL, Christian Diors' of this world all of whom are moving online with increasing momentum.

My feeling is its unlikely or even highly undesirable that these guys would want their site designs and/or functionality to mimic/replicate B&Q, Sainsbury’s or even John Lewis. How then should they differentiate themselves? Indeed should they differentiate themselves?

Does/Should Branding and Consumer perception have an impact on Design patterns for ultra luxury brands and sites? 
What would you say to high end brands who dont want a site "that looks like every other site on the internet"?
