Rapid Testing - Next generation software testing

I can see the need for this, but I am concerned that it will be sold as a substitute for traditional testing methods.  I still write old-style test scripts for our ecommerce system, and I still run through them whenever we do a client upgrade.

People (especially programmers) have always underestimated the need for testing.  I remember running a project at a merchant bank.  A software house delivered a system where about half the programs didn't work at all.  It was such a simple change (they thought) there was no need to run through the regression tests.  Well, they had built it with an out of date set of libraries - easily done but fatal to their reputation.  We never really trusted their deliveries again.

I am also concerned about the concept of an 'important' bug as opposed to an unimportant bug.  Who decides? My experience is that all bugs are considered important by someone.  I know clients driven to a state of apoplexy by a spelling mistake.

However that said, I would love to hear more.  Can you give us some references?

It's not a fit all methodology, but it works well with us on certain projects.  Much depends on client's requirements and time allocation to testing. (http://www.satisfice.com/i ...
