I have found a couple of good systems:
    - Constant Contact - www.roving.com
    - Microsoft bCentral - see www.microsoft.co.uk
or the latest one which looks really good, low costs, no long term contract :
    - Myemma www.emma.com (or www.myemma.com)

    Good Luck.
Let me know how it goes when you get started.
    Best wishes
    Fiona

I've just set up and sent my first email campaign off Interspire's SendStudio
£139 plus any hosting including PHP and MySQL (I'm using 1and1.co.uk)

    Very impressed.

    Double or single opt-ins
    automated bounce handling
    open tracking and link tracking
HTML/text capability including a WYSIWIG editor
Automated responders e.g. for sending series of emails to convert after sign-ups
    Automated unsubscribe functions

Best of all NO per-email costs

    Bargain!

I've used this company once about three years ago just to test if it really worked and the wonderful thing is that you only pay for the emails sent. Its great to see that its got bigger & better over the years. There is no setup fee, no ties, reporting all inclusive in the price.

    Address is http://www.verticalresponse.com

For each email, it cost $0.015 - $15 for 000 - and you know the exchange rate at the moment.

And, just spotted on site this offer:
    SPECIAL OFFER
Become an American Express Business Gold Cardmember, get your first year fee free, plus Receive $50 in iBuilder Email Credits from VerticalResponse. Learn How
    - possibly only open to US customers but you can always try your luck.

They also include list building forms as list cleaning.

Just dropped in a couple of features from the site:

    **************************
    iBuilder 5.0
Complete Email & Direct Mail Solution
VerticalResponse's iBuilder is the complete direct marketing solution you need to build your opt-in mailing lists, publish your online newsletters and manage your direct email advertising campaigns, right from your browser.

    Email Creation
    Email Delivery
    Email Reporting
    Postcard Creation
    Postcard Printing & Mailing
    Mailing List Management
    List Building Tools
    List Cleansing Tools

    iBuilder Select
Segment your lists for targeted messages
iBuilder Select, our advanced proprietary database segmentation system, enables you to run counts and create new lists based on specific criteria that you choose. Users can now send more targeted email messages based on demographic information, purchase history and even behavioral trends.

    iBuilder Survey
    Custom Online Survey
Surveys are an important and powerful tool when you want to know exactly what your customers or prospects are thinking. They help you make decisions about your products, services and business overall. That's why VerticalResponse offers surveys with iBuilder.

    Direct Technical Integration (API)
This program is customized to fit the needs of your company based on the level of integration. Costs will be outlined with a Statement of Work after a technical meeting between both companies.

    ********************************
Sounds like i'm a reseller for the company...may be I should... but it just seems to work well, and they have a community feel about the offering. As I say, I've subscribed to their newsletter for about three years.

All I would warn is on the old data protection is that you make sure your clients have included in their opt in that they give permission for the data to be sent overseas. Its just something nagging in the back of my mind about this when I was working on the client side, at Barclays.

Post up what you decide to do and what you learn

    Cheers

We have an extremely powerful and easy to use system that you can use on an adhoc basis.

Delivery success with this system is amazing. Which can be a problem with some of the cheaper broadcast solutions.

If you would like a login for a sneak preview please email me or call.

Totally agree with Alex, High Deliverability is a big issue, why email 30'000 people if it only gets to 18'000?

We have had a customer transfer to NewZapp from one of the 'cheap' US solutions, and as our sales manager would say, they are now 'as happy as a sand-boy' - a sand-boy was apparently a young boy who would clean up the sand in the pub, and the publican would pay him in beer.
