Not some much a challenger on the same ground or even particularly new ground, just plain more effective for research. From Vivisimo comes www.clusty.com which uses classification and clustering of results aka the more serious end of enterprise search.

First impressions are very good. I don’t know about anybody else but I have a few favourite phrases that I use to quickly suss out a search engine. It managed to find some gems I had previously spent hours finding and few new ones I hadn’t found yet.
