Google ain’t that clever (or is there a hidden agenda?)

Not happy as a full time geek looking after a Bank’s web site I’ve been maintaining a web site (In Italian) entirely dedicated to tablet PCs in my spare time.About 40% of the 100 odd users I get each day come directly. Either they have bookmarked my site or they assume www.tabletpc.it is a Microsoft site. Most of the rest come via Google Ad Words as tablet pc related ad words are cheap. What I find particularly annoying is that for the most important key phrase – ‘tablet pc’ – I am listed at the bottom of the third page on www.google.it. The top spots are taken by Microsoft’s pages, fresh articles from established online magazines about PCs and product pages of companies that produce tablets. And rightly so.However, the rest of the well positioned links are often to pages of portals such as Kelkoo, product pages of e-tailers with little substance and dated articles from out of context sites. Why is it that the only web site in Italian that is 100% dedicated to tablet PCs and carries good content can’t make the top 20? I managed 9th spot on MSN and 11th on Yahoo!Either Google is blind or there must be something going on behind the scenes. Some dark, business-lead, forces acting upon The Algorithm. Or am I expecting too much for my humble web site?
