blogs or forum posts?

I was reading Tristam’s latest post and noticed his pic, which I hadn’t seen before. I then clicked to view his profile and was presented with two links: [view Tristam’s forum postings] and [view Tristam’s blog].I clicked on both links and realises that Tristam’s posts were actually his blog entries. And it seems to be the case with Ashley’s posts and blogs too. What is happening is that e-consultancy blogs are effectively ‘powered’ by the forum – part of the same system but presented in a different way.Not sure if having blogs and the forum share the same space is a good idea. Simply because this means that blogs ARE forum posts. No doubt Tristam can explain the difference in great detail ;)Blogs tend to be well articulated thoughts that often relate to each other. This is particularly true for ‘business blogs’. And Tristam’s one here. Comments left by readers refer back to the blog entry and rarely to each other. There is no discussion going on. Which is the whole point of what goes on in forums where posts are discussed, questioned and commented between people and ideas evolve in many directions. Forums allow people to contribute brief off-the-top-of-ones-head ideas and questions.I feel e-consultancy’s forum is becoming saturated by expert contributions that are effectively blog entries. I would rather see more posts started by more people and have experts contribute their valuable knowledge to those. And also have the choice not to read all blog entries – I may well be interested in X’s blog but not Ys.

Hmmm... it seems a pretty neat idea to me.  I am not at all sure that blogs entries are necessarily related, and knowing that an entry has to stand alone in the forum is a good dis ...

I still think that blogs and forums are host to different types of content and ways to interact with it. In the case of e-consultancy there is no distinction. Viewing some's blogs ...
