Thought I would share my negative blogging experience to counter-balance the regular pro-blogging posts ;)
Some time ago I added a blog to one of my sites (http://www.tabletpc.it) in the most prominent position of the home page. The idea was that the unscheduled thoughts of the Web Editor, written in an informal way, would provide good content and inspiration for further discussion. It's working fine - I'm happy with it.
However, as I categorised these blogs in the News section of the site I was refused as a contributor to the Google's Italian news section because, as a rule, they don't include blogs in their listsings.
Two possible solutions: I could move the blogging efforts from the News section, or rename them 'Editoriali' (editorials). The latter is the best option as the News section would feature good content more frequently, resulting in more coverage on Google News.
Moral of the story is that, in certain cases, value of content diminishes if it exists as blogs.
